Bread Roll Recipe

Ingredients

For the filling-

  • Potatoes: 3 medium, boiled and mashed
  • Peas: ½ cup, boiled
  • Onions: 1, finely chopped
  • Flavoured condiment of your choice
  • Green Chillies: 1 finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves: a handful, finely chopped
  • Salt: as per taste
  • Red Chilli Powder: ½ tsp
  • Black pepper (optional): as per taste

For the covering-

  • Bread slices: 4-6, with edges preferably trimmed
  • Water: A bowlful for soaking
  • Oil to fry

Method

  • Mix the potato mix, boiled peas, preferred condiment with the spices till uniformly mixed. Ensure the mashed mixture is smooth so that you can easily roll it up without any lumps
  • Dip the slice of bread in water. Squeeze the slice between the palms of your hands and gently remove excess water.
  • Roll the potato filling into an oval ball and wrap the soaked bread slice around it. Seal in the edges so that the filling doesn’t come out.
  • Deep fry the bread rolls till the surface turns golden brown. You may also put the uncooked bread rolls in the freezer to make them later; freezing them also helps seal in the edges much more efficiently.
  • Serve hot with ketchup
