Bread Halwa

Ever heard of halwa made with bread? This is simpler than the prominent suji halwa.

Bread Halwa


  • Modern Milk Plus Bread slices- 10
  • Milk- Measuring 3 small cups/600gm
  • Ghee- 3 tablespoon
  • Sugar- 150 gm (3/4 cup)
  • Dry fruits and powdered cardamom


  1. Crush/cut the bread slices in small pieces and fry in 2 tablespoon ghee till golden brown
  2. Pour milk and sugar on the bread pieces. Keep stirring. Crush the bread pieces with the spatula. The pieces will turn pulpy.
  3. Add one spoon of ghee till the mixture looks greasy. Turn off the flame. Add powdered cardamom.
  4. Garnish with your favourite dry fruits.
