Besan Bread Toast Recipe

Ingredients

  • Gram flour (Besan – 1 cup)
  • Red chili powder (½ tsp)
  • Turmeric (¼ tsp)
  • 4 Bread slices (brown or white)
  • Carom seeds (Ajwain – ¼ tsp)
  • Dry mango powder (Amchur – ½ tsp)
  • Salt (¼ tsp)
  • Asafetida (Hing – 1 pinch)
  • Finely chopped green chili (1)
  • Finely chopped onion (2 tbsp)
  • Ginger paste (¼ tsp)
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves (1 tbsp)
  • Finely chopped capsicum (2 tbsp)
  • Oil (as per requirement)

Method

  1. Put the gram flour (besan) in a large mixing bowl and add the chili powder, carom seeds, turmeric, dry mango powder, salt, and asafetida (hing)
  2. Add water to the mixture and whisk till the paste is smooth
  3. Next, add ginger paste, chopped chili, onions, capsicum and coriander leaves
  4. Mix everything well until you get a thick batter with flowing consistency
  5. Dip the bread slice into the batter, immersing both sides one by one
  6. Apply a little oil to the pan and put the coated bread on it. Keep the flame low
  7. Once the bread turns golden brown in color, flip it over and cook other side
  8. Make sure that the mixture is completely soaked and cooked completely by gently pressing the bread a with a spatula.

Serve it with tomato sauce or green chutney for an unforgettable experience!
