Bread Manchurian

For the love of Chinese, here is a super awesome and simple version of Manchurian with bread. You can have this with rice or noodles.

  • Preparation Time: 15 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 20-25 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 2 people
Cheela Toast


  • 6-7 Modern 100% Whole Wheat Bread slices
  • ½ cup sweet corns- blanched
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 2 tbsps. Cornflour
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp. Pepper
  • 1 tbsp. Refined oil


For gravy-

  • 2 medium sized onions
  • 1 large capsicum
  •  2-4 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp. Soya sauce
  • 1 tsp. Vinegar
  • 1 tsp. chilli powder
  •  ½ tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  •  2 tbsps. Oil


  1. Prepare batter with cornflour, maida, pepper, salt and water. Keep aside.
  2. Dip bread slices in batter, shallow fry both sides in oil. Cut the fried bread in small pieces.
  3. Heat 2 tbsps. Oil. Sauté onions, garlic, corns and capsicum till they soften a bit.
  4. Add red chilli powder, soya sauce, vinegar, 2 tbsps. of water, sugar and salt. Add the fried bread pieces when the sauce thickens.
